LONGMAN PREPARATION COURSE FOR THE TOEFL IBT PDF, LONGMAN PREPARATION COURSE FOR THE TOEFL IBT gives intermediate to high-intermediate learners all the tools they need to succeed on the TOEFL® iBT. The Pupil Publication with CD-ROM and the full Audio CDs (marketed separately from the publication) develop test-taking skills and supply substantial practice. The interactive CD-ROM provides more exercise and simulates the actual test environment.
Features:
- Diagnostic pre-tests and post-tests identify strengths and weaknesses and assess improvement.
- Eight mini-tests preview the check’t integrated four-skills format.
- Two complete practice tests familiarize students with the specific test format and timing.
- Training Plans provide step-by-step directions for instructors and interactive class suggestions.
- Classroom Activities include photocopiable warm-up and follow-up exercises for each language skill.
- Longman Planning has a great deal of material. Each section pauses up the personal issue varieties, such as vocabulary questions in the reading or task four in the speaking, and gives several illustrations of each. As the reserve goes through those specific question forms, it gives advice for every question and provides many test-like exercises. For illustration, in the part on listening queries that request about the speaker’s attitude, Longman offers a total of eight recordings, starting short and then extending to much longer recordings with even more questions, slowly incorporating in various other query types that were explained in earlier chapters. Eight recordings is a lot for just one issue type, and that’s a good factor!
That question-by-question section is most of the book, but after that, there are eight “mini-tests” and two full-length tests. All of this adds up to plenty of materials, but there’s in fact also more: the book comes with accessibility to a web site that provides almost the same amount of material again, all different from what will be in the guide (but in a related format).
But volume is less important than quality, and this is why I recommend other textbooks above this publication. The core problem is usually that the passages are too easy. The texts, for one, are often about topics which students will already be familiar with.
